Family Fun to Support Pediatric Oncology Research
Joshua's Run 2009 was a great success! Although a deluge was promised by the weathermen, with a few prayers to the right angels, we had a perfect weather day for the event! A competitive and fun crowd participated in all three events, each race with its own personality. See 2009 race results above.
We topped the races off with a our awards ceremony with delicious food provided by FLIK and musical entertainment by Matt Brown and friends.

Joshua's Run began in 1996 just after Joshua's chemotherapy ended. Although he required further surgery, his cancer was eventually cured. This event has been a way to give back, to attempt to aid the battle against childhood cancer so that all children with cancer can be as fortunate as Joshua. Over the years, around this event, a wonderful community of generous, philanthropic people have gathered yearly to make a difference. One of these people was a lovely child full of life and an inspiring, unparalled spirit. Her name was Andrea and she will always be remembered.
The Andrea Gaziano Memorial Fund
In memory of a brave and beautiful girl.
On October 19, 2006 Scituate’s beautiful Andrea Gaziano lost her heroic six year battle with cancer. She was only fourteen years old. Andrea was a much loved member of our Joshua’s Run community and we pay tribute to her on race day. In her memory, we honor her strength and courage as, together, we contribute to The Jimmy Fund.
Andrea’s battle against cancer was incredibly courageous and hard fought. And, not only did she show remarkable strength and attitude, she also received the best in cutting edge treatment currently available. She received it at both The Jimmy Fund Clinic at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and at Children’s Hospital, two of the world’s leaders in children’s health care. But even with the tremendous improvements in cancer treatment, the sad, hard reality is that there is still so much to be done; many cancers are still incurable, many treatments have yet to be discovered. Andrea is, in fact, the very reason this race goes on. Her story only serves to strengthen our resolve to carry on in her spirit and actively engage in the battle against childhood cancer.
Beginning with the 2006 event proceeds, all Joshua's Run proceeds are directed to The Andrea Gaziano Memorial Fund within The Jimmy Fund at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. This fund specifically benefits pediatric oncology research at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
